Some channels to talk Long distance (skip shooting) are channel 6, 11, 26, and 28 on the am side. If you're looking to talk sideband some great channels to talk on is channels 37 through 40.

Channel 6 - This channel is for the big boys! If you're talking long distance on this channel then you're doing really really well. This channel has a nickname of the Super Bowl because it's where all the big boys go to compete and get their name called.

Channel 11 - If you're looking to talk to Hawaii. This is a great channel to start that long distance communication. It has the nickname of the mini bowl because there's a lot of Hawaiians with grass shirts talking on it. lol jk

Channel 26 - if you're not able to get your name called on channel 6 or 11 then this is a great choice for the next step down. this channel has a nickname of the Rose Bowl.

Channel 28 - this may be one of the easiest channels to get your name called if you have good conditions. I do not know of a nickname for this channel
