how long does your beam rebound ?

by rebound, i mean bounce side-to-side after you stop the rotor. my 3element rebounded for 10-12 seconds. the 6 element rebounds for about a full minute. it makes precise tuning more difficult. i have a 10 foot aluminum mast, 4 feet in the tower, 6 out. it is pinned at the rotor and at the top, so it wont spin in high winds out of alignment. so all that torsion is actually twisting the mast. i read that is good, it takes the shock off the rotor. i guess it wouldent happed with a steel mast. im just suprised how long it takes to stop. 209

Mine defiantly moves a little when i stop it or the wind is blowing hard but not that much. I do have a 2 inch diameter steal mast pipe. 5 foot in the tower and 10 out the top.

Are you sure its all in your mast pipe?What rotor are you using?

its a yaesu g-800sa,new one. it handles more windload than the beam(maco m106) is, but i havent actually gone out to the tower to watch it. i figured the rotor would stop dead when the rotor control was turned off. i goes side to side about 8 inches each way when it first stops.. i have noticed the signals(needle) fluctuate according to the rebound of the antenna locally, but not with skip.(thank god). i have not seen it bend from the wind yet, my only worry is that after 10 years of slight twisting if the mast will weaken. its aircraft aluminum but i wonder. 209
