New RCI/Galaxy Base Radio Design?

#113280

Post by HOUND DOG »

This is just my opinion, but I think its time for a new base station radio design! The Galaxy DX2517/RCI 2980WX back to the old Saturn all use the same old dull black face, rack mount style case. Hey Ranger, how about something new for 2008???
How about a new base radio that looks like the Galaxy 93T/95T with its back-lit face plate and blue LED's? My 93T is a beautiful radio and I use it as my base "only" because it looks so darn GOOD:-) It sure would be nice to have a BIG base radio with BIG knobs and BIG meters, Lighted Face plate and overall "Good Looks". I even know guy's running Stryker 440HP's as base radios "only" because they like the way they look all lite up like a cheap motel. Its time for a change man! its 2008! If RCI comes through, I will be the first in line to get mine superwhackpacked!:-)

I say it's time to bring back tube radios. Clothes, fashion in general always seems to revert back then go forward then back again. The 70's style was "hip" a few years ago so let's go back another decade and bring back tubes. Can I get a he!! yes??

I would just like to see a NEW exterior design on the RCI2980WX & Galaxy DX2517. When the Saturn came out years ago it was a cool look and so were bell bottom jeans, but now its old! I hate those toggle switches on these radios as well. They just seem cheap and don't hold up over time. And why does the 2517 only have a 5 digit freq counter? (whats up with that?). The mobile radios are getting all the attention which is good but its time to do a "makeover" on the old bases.

seems like cobra would realize they could make a ton of dough bringing back the 2000 base , maybe with blue lighting like the pics of the one that had a Viagra effect on some folks .
an export version (with better guts than the 150-200 mobiles) would really chop into the market of the ranger/RCI and galaxy base stations . :D :D :D

If they would take the old 2000 board, put a mosfet final in it (because 1969's are going away)
and then hang a nice little two pill on the back of it with variable power...I'd love to see it.
For the time, I'll just run my 2000 with a little silver streak behind it an enjoy the great reciever
sensitivity and selectivity.
