I am looking for info on a courier 23 all i can find so far is the 23 plus, this is not a 23 plus! I plugged it in tubes light but there's oil leaking from a blue thing in the back right so unplugged it! Also Wondering about ideas for microphone could, were could i find mic plugs or should i look into changing it to a 4 pin or something up to date? I also noticed some off the insulation on the antenna plug has been chipped out! Is it okay to power up a tube radio without antenna as long as i don't key it up? I don't have a base antenna yet! And i am waiting on a dummy load!

Thanks for any info i am currently going over all available information on cbtricks, looking for additional help info! This is my first tube radio !

That blue thing leaking oil in the back is a filter capacitor I think it' 40uf at 450 volts
it needs to be replaced I wouldn't run the radio like that or your going to blow something
else out. I would change out the Mic plug your going to have a hard time finding one like it
male or female. If the ant plug has a few chips thats ok as long as the center dosn"t touch
the ground on the connector.You can power up the radio without an antenna.

Well i figured it was capacitor but i am having i hard time finding anything with the info that is on it! Its a mallory 350 vdc! I think i might have found one at tube and more! Guess ill call them! I am total newb when it comes to these, and i haven't spent alot of time inside a radio to start with!

Any idea's where i could find info on it?

It has a huge hole for the mic plug! Not sure what would fit there from nowdays, maybe ill have to rig something!

I looked at the schematic for the 23+ it should be almost the same as the 23
it's showing the filter caps at 350v and one at 450v at 20uf 30uf and 40uf.
Since the radio is old I would replace all of them. I would use 40uf at 450v
it will give you better filtering and more voltage handling capacity.

Since your having a problem in the power supply I would check the
rectifiers they are probably using the old metal ones they look like little metal hats.
Use a ohm meter on the RX1 scale put your probes on either side of the diode you should
get a high reading about mid scale one way reverse the probes you should get a zero the other way. You could also check the other filter caps with the ohm meter the same way. The
meter on the caps should jump up about half scale then slowly drop down towards zero if
the cap is good. Make sure the radio is unplugged and discharge the caps use an insulated
screwdriver put the screwdriver to the positive side on the cap and short it to ground. Do
it a couple of times that should take any charge out of the cap.

The rectifiers gave me 60kohm, 13kohm and .5 kohm! The 450 capacitor me the jump to 200 then droppped to 40 on all but one post! The 35o capacitor only jumps to 30 and falls, but it leaks oil so its gotta go anyhow!

Where is a reliable place to get parts?

Some of the parts in the supply sound ok but I would just
replace all the diodes and capacitors then you shouldn't have
any problems. That radio is 40yrs old with caps that old I'm
sure you'll have some hum on your receive or transmit.
