coax help

#114076

Post by Bugsy »

Hi all. My buddy gave me an old Dwight D. base and speaker, and a DOSY meter. Another guy gave me a big stick. I think all I need now is some coax, I've got to run about 60', any suggestions on what to get?

If you buy good quality, for that amt of watts, and feet, RG8X will work perfect. If its in the budget you can get 213 but the "GOOD QUALITY" 8X will have plently of room to grow into!

get at least rg8x or mini 8 beldon type. or get the bigger stuff rg213. its really flexable for the big stuff. dont use no radio shack stuff or rg59. you can order it from one of the sponsers in 50 and 75 foot lenghts. probably longer if you needed it. go only as long as you need it. you might want to get the rg213 stuff for a 75 foot run.

i always recommend something with a foil shield to help keep static out of your line . getting something with a stranded center conductor will make the coax more flexible and easier to work with . davis bury-flex , lmr-400 , belden 9913f are all great coax . high quality amphenol pl-259 connectors soldered at both braid and center conductor is best . 75 feet should be about $100 delivered and less at a shop that ain't trying to burn ya . do it right the first time and you wont have to worry about it for many years or even if you go to a few thousand watts . dont forget a jumper for that meter .

i wish i had friends that gave me nice things like that :!:   :D
