How much over the roof line should you be to not bleed on the homes next door?. I-MAX 2000 and a Galaxy 2527.

I think around 20 to 25 watts if I remember correctly. Our neighborhood has an association and need to keep it under raps as much as I can. This is why I went with the I-MAX with no radials. It is a town home and I am on the second floor with attic access. I am going to run the antenna coax through the attic and to the other side of the house into the master bed room. Just trying everything not to bleed on anyone and get busted early in the game. As time goes by it will be much easier.

Get it as high as you feel you can get away with. And go with ru213 or lmr400 or better coax. If you have an adjoining town hse next to you. Try to keep the coax as far away from the adjoining wall as you can. As long as your not running an amp. And the radio is clean and hasn`t been clipped. I would think you should be ok. You might be ok with a cheaper coax. But if you have the funds. The better coax is the way to go.

I have the same situation. Just got a 2980 and need to get an antenna up. I have a single family home but the houses are fairly close in this neighborhood. I have a Antron 99 but am planning to get an Imax-2000 because I understand it's a much better antenna, and I only want to do this once.

I already have a pole that would put the base of the antenna about 3 feet above the roof peak. But I also have another pole that's 10 or 12 feet long I can use to get it up even higher. My question is .... How high can you go before you need to start running guide wires?

I had a 10 foot 1 1/4 rigid pipe with the bottom 5 feet mounted to side of hse with 3 standoff brackets. It extended 5 feet above the peak with the Imax and was very solid. I then put up a 20 foot telescoping pole using the same mounts. The Imax is now mounted 15 feet above the peak. I had to put 3 dacron guy wires on it. It seemed ok at about 7 feet. But once I went all the way up. I knew I needed the guy wires. The wind will really whip that Imax around. It is not as stout as the a99. Hope that helps.

Get it up as high as you practically can, use good coax, and remember to back the mic gain down just a tad so you don't over modulate...severe over modulation = bleed-over...no matter what people may tell you :( Good luck! Those are neat radios, BTW!

Yeah interference with the neighbor's stuff if really a factor of two things. A trashy signal going out like from a poorly tuned transistor linear or very overmodulated audio. If you have a clean signal going out, you probably won't bother anything. The other factor is wither or not your neighbors have any or many really cheap audio devices like cheap clock radios ect....

You shouldn't bother TV sets at all if they're on cable or satellite.

Good luck and keep it clean!

I guess I cheated. I strapped a pole to my chimney and the 2000 to the pole. Gets me about 46 feet up at the tip. Unless you are looking for it you would never know it is there.

I-MAX 2000 and 100 ft of 213 on the way. NO POWER at this time. My mobile is the power house now and love it. Just need to be able to talk inside on the bad weather days. Just liked the fact I am closer to the kitchen.

This is what I like to hear. I really don't think anyone is going to look up. I can mount the antenna at the peak of one side of the roof. I just hope they don't notice the the 24 ft I-MAX swinging in the wind.

you will be cool. I had to point it out to my kids. They did not believe me when I told them I had put it up. Makes a world of difference. Clear reception and better broadcast.
Best luck, careful on the roof.

I have my Imax with the ground plane kit mounted about 10 feet from my roof peak to the bottom of the antenna putting the top of the antenna about 60 feet above ground and I talk full throttle on my Galaxy 95T2 (~170 watts am ~200 watts ssb) and I have had no complaints about bleed from my neighbors in 7 months.
