Prices on eBay for used TramD201, Titan II's
Hi Guys,
Does anyone know the prices on these radios, or what I could expect to pay for one of these? I am planning on picking one up after the 1st of the year. A guy I know wanted 350 for a d201, thought it was quite steep but possible nonetheless...Any info you can provide is much appreciated, thanks!

You can probably buy a Tram II, 201, or 201A for less than $200 but ask the seller if the radio had been "re-capped". If not you should count on replacing the original paper, electrolytic capacitors to get it to work properly. Expect to pay $150 to $200 to get this done.
I have a a couple of Tram IIs, a 201, and a 201A. I didn't need to replace the tubes so I don't know what that would cost.

You get what you pay for. If you want a nice one then your looking at AT LEAST $400.00 for a Tram D-201A. A D-201 will fetch around $300.00 unless they are in very good condition but both can go as high as a grand for one that is in like new condition and they are well worth it, if tube radios are your thing. The only problem with a 201-A is that a lot of the parts that are unique to this radio are getting very hard to come by and as such if you buy a pig in a poke you are looking at big money to have one repaired, the 201 on the other hand is not. A Titan 2 will set you back about $250.00 to $350.00 for a nice one as they are not quite as collectible as the 201's are. Do not leave out a Browning Mark 3 or 2 as they are outstanding radios and can be found in very good shape for under $400.00. but stay away from the mark 4's they bring big money but or not a very well built radio. One more thing you should know. If you are using an amplifier with one it has to be an amp that will take a high dead key. These radios all will key 5 to 7 watts swinging to around 20 watts. That's the way they were designed to run and even though you can tune one down to key say 2 to 3 watts it is not recommended as it is hard on the tubes.
One word of caution. DO NOT buy one that has had any type of mods done to it. There are not many people around that really know who to work on one correctly and you can ruin one in a heart beat if you dont know your stuff. Find one that is as close to stock as possible and if it has had repair work done to it insist that they tell you by who and when. That way you can ask around and maybe find out if the tech is good or not. If i can help you let me know, i know of a few people that have these radios.....but they will not be cheap;)
Here is a pic of just a few of my old "junk" radios.
