Uniden PRO 710e
I have a used Uniden PRO 710e base unit that I have had kicking around for a few years (about 13) and recently was bitten by the bug to get it out and play around with it a bit. I have an old mobile antenna that I hooked up to it just for some basic checks to see it if worked or not and it seems to be OK. I know a better antenna is a must but before i make that purchase I want to see if it is a radio worth messing with. The only thing I can see not working on it is the meter. The needle is suck to the far right. Are any of you folks familiar with that radio? Is it worth tinkering with at all?
I have ordered a setup for my 1984 Bronco from Sparky. I went with the Cobra 148 and a Wilson mag mount antenna. I look forward to getting it installed so I can give it a whirl. I am still pretty green at all this stuff so bear with me if I say something stupid.

First off...welcome to the forum!!! :D
As for the radio...any radio is a good radio to work with. And the more radios, I say, the better. You can never have enough radios. I have 5 myself and working on getting a 6th. Some people on here have at least a dozen or so and are still collecting. The needle should'nt be that hard to unstick. Maybe even a good tap to the side of the unit may bring it around, you never know.
And as for the 148...good luck with it. I just got one myself and am having the time of my life with it.
And again, welcome to the forum...here, there is no one that sounds stupid with their questions, just fellow CBers that like to share their knowlage with everyone else so go ahead and ask...someone will get you the answer that you're looking for!!!
