LMR-400 Do they have different qualities
LMR-400 Do they have different qualities
I read some post and some seem like you can get a different quality of LMR-400. IS this true are is LMR-400 just LMR-400. One is not made better than another.

There are different builds of LMR-400. Some of it is made to be buried and some made to flex better. Check out the Times Microwave web site for the different LMR-400's made. Beware of copy cat brands claiming to be 400 series??? Not real LMR cable!!

If you see a "Low Grade LMR-400" advertised then it's not LMR-400. LMR coax is made by Times Microwave. Any other company saying that they make a LMR coax is selling you a copy cat cable. I don't know what else to tell you?bullet wrote:Can please someone help me with this question. Do they have companies that make a low grade LMR-400.

As 80MM said - the only company that manufactures "LMR-400" cable is Times Microwave. I have seen the ads for the "just like LMR-400" & "similar to LMR-400" but it is not LMR-400 nor does it have the quality or specs of LMR-400. Your antenna and coax are the last place you want to cheap out on your system. Spend the couple extra bucks and get real LMR-400 if that is what you want - you won't be sorry...bullet wrote:Can please someone help me with this question. bullet wrote:It is selling on ebay. 140 feet for $89. The guy has a link and says it is times Microwave. So I guess it is the real stuff.
If you buy it on ebay your taking a big risk. What they advertise and what they send you could be two different things. I would go with one of our sponsors for a few bucks more then you'll have the real stuff with a warranty.

Our own sponsors can be deceiving as well. I purchased some LMR-400 from one of the sponsors here and when I received it, it was NOT Times Microwave LMR400. It was some no name brand 400, yet their website says "LMR-400." I will take my chances with a reputable seller on Ebay any day. I have had over 130 transactions on Ebay and have yet had a negative one.

That averages out to $1.57 per foot - plus shipping. That IMO is way too much to pay for genuine LMR-400!!!!bullet wrote:It is selling on ebay. 140 feet for $89. The guy has a link and says it is times Microwave. So I guess it is the real stuff.
You can get LMR-400 for .89 per foot, DB (Direct Burial) for $1.09 per foot and UF (Ultra Flex) for $1.12 per foot.
That's for up to 49 feet. 50+ feet and the price drops to .79 / .95 / $1.04 respectively.

Isn't that more like 64cents per foot?TwentyTwo-Zero wrote:That averages out to $1.57 per foot - plus shipping. You're right - I figured it quickly in my head and dropped the "1" off so my calculation was for 40 feet - not 140Z28 wrote:Isn't that more like 64cents per foot?
That is a good price - as long as it is indeed Times Microwave...

I use Andrews all the time. Just as good as LMR with the exact same specs or maybe a little better. I have 100 feet of Andrews 600 in the air now with no problems. I find the center conductor in the Andrews 600 to be bigger than the LMR because the center conductor in the Andrews is coppper coated aluminum and not solid coppper but works just as well.Z28 wrote:I just bought 213feet of Andrews CNT-400 for $89 shipped.I heard it was some very good stuff,I will find out I guess.
I wanted a big roll that I can make my own lengths from.I just need to get my soldering skills tuned up again.
