I got into my closet the other day with the intent of getting out my Cam 88, doing a retube on it and putting it
back on the air. As I was in there looking for it I came across a radio I completely forgot I even had - a Dak Mark IX:

I forgot how nice this radio worked! Nothing but flowers from the locals.
The radio sitting on top of it is an Excalibur SSB...another great performer!

Nice problem to have though :D
Yeah, no kidding, eh? To tell you the truth I'm surprised it's still functional - it's been in there
for about 10 or so years. I fired it up last night (in standby mode) and left it on overnight before
keying it up today...

You people keep posting pictures like this of "The Radio I forgot I had" or "Here's a couple of photos of my humble shack" and such, I ain't never gonna post no pictures of my cheap junk! The agony! The embarrassment! You are killing me!
man, that dak is sweet there 22-0. i like them big ol base radios. probably why i like them big ol rack mount rci rigs. are those straight cb rigs.??? extra channels.??? what do those radios put out.??? nice none the less. drool on the key board again, man. :D :D
The Dak is an AM 40 channel CB - Keys 4 watts and swings to about 6 watts rms. I need to pull and test/replace tubes, then do a power adjustment to it. The Excalibur is an AM/USB/LSB/FM/CW 5 bander that covers 26.0650 to 28.3050 - 3 watt DK with 5 watts rms. When I got the Excalibur it was back swinging on modulation (a sure sign someone's "golden screwdriver" was in it), so I had to adjust the power & mod pots to bring it back around.

That Dak Mk 9 is a fine looking radio!...Seems a shame to lock it away...We don't use A.M. over here in the U.K., but that is a radio I would certainly 'show off' if I had one ...:D
Hey Richie, You should keep your eyes out for the Dak X - it's AM and SSB. I'm sure it would look great sitting in your shack along with your other radios!

Great radios!
I feel the same way! But that's ok guys. Love to see those radios even if you do forget you have them.
