anyone use the new 'max 2000' ? (not the imax)
i was working on an antenna project, it wasnt flying very well if you know what i mean. the salesman assured me that the max2000 is the same as an imax2000, antron bought the copyrights from solarcon and now makes the antenna??? is that correct? box says 'holland ohio'. but it still says solarcon too. it wouldent matter, but the antenna is a DUD. here i am feeling foolish for buying 285 feet of lmr 400 cuz it didnt work out, and the whole time it was the antenna. i put my 8 year old antron 99 up, and PRESTO, good results. the max2000 wouldent tune for crap, there must be a wire loose inside. anyone else used one? maybe it was just my turn for bad luck? 2zero9

Hey 209, I have a max 2000, works great but this is my 2nd one, 1st one had a dead short and would not tune at all. I originally had an Antron 99 but it got hit with lightening. Replaced with the max 2000. I like it and can tell a difference between the two, but like I said it took two to get a good one. Good luck and hope this helps

Hi 2zero9,
I purchased the Max 2000 a few months back after my antenna was damaged in a wind storm. The box it came in also says Solarcon and that it is made in Holland, Ohio. A lot of the sites that I looked at during my purchase process called it the "Max 2000" but had statements like "aka Imax 2000", "Imax", "also known as Imax 2000". etc. I figured that these were just nicknames for the antenna, and that they are one in the same. My antenna was pretuned and has a 1.05:1 to 1.1:1 match across the 11m band. I don't know if the copyright has been bought by another company or not, but since a previous poster said they had a bad antenna out of the box I would suggest sending it back for a replacement. I know this won't do anything for the frustration and delay, but I think you will be happy with the antenna once you get a functioning unit. Good luck!

OOPS! I thought I had bought a I-max 2000 but after reading this post it turns out I bought a Max-2000 oh well. I didn't have any trouble with mine, it was sort of just plug and play. I never touched it and I get 1.1 across the band. I am also using 125' of RG-8 (the big stuff). Maybe I just got lucky.

I also have the Imax 2000 out of the box with my cobra 29 it was 1.1 across the entire 40 25 foot to the feed point and with 50 ft of knock off lmr 400 (cnt 400). It talks and receives great. Now with my 4600 turbo the swr's are like 1.3, 1.4 across but the radio has been clipped and cranked to its max. other than that its a great antenna.
