I found this MATCHER SWR TUNER. Is this a fictional device or does it work? I know there are tuns of gimmicks around especially in the CB world since they have been around a long time.

antenna matcher

IN short Yes they work. Antenna matchers work on a simple principle of impedance matching. See your radio is designed for 50ohm out, the coax is 50ohm, and ideally your antenna should have a 50ohm load thus giving you a perfect match(swr 1-1) Now if your antenna is tuned for 11 meter and say you want to use 10 meter your antenna system would have a mismatch. All the antenna matcher does when you turn the knob is make the radio think that it is seeing a 50ohm load (it would actually be something like 54 ohm or whatever). The antenna is still out of tune but the radio would think that it is in tune.
