I would most definitely jump on that before someone else does.Shawnbullet wrote:Anyone have a little extra money to loan me.LOL

I have no use for something like that, but it is a good deal.
For something like that, you would have to have some way to raise it, like a crain. It's not like a Rohn 25 where you can raise a single piece at a time with a jin pole, or put the whole thing together on a hingle plate. Also, it would be extremely hard to climb a tower like that vs a Rohn style tower.
You can make almost any tower self supporting if you pour enough concrete in the base....fyi.

free standing 3 or 4 leg towers are easy to raise........simply anchor 2 legs with the tower fully assembled...make a pulley stain relief....ie: 1 piece of cable attached at 40 and 60 foot mark...with a pulley snatch block on the cable...this is where you attach the tension [pull] cable.....pulley moves along cable as tower angle changes
also have 2 relief strings pulled by hand on the other 2 legs [mainly for guidance] but will help lift
be sure to anchor legs securely and use heavy cable
good deal

I used to build these for a living and it can be stick built. It is more time consuming but it can be done without a lot of strain...... a crane would be the fastest and you would only need one with about 110' of reach... could get one around here for half a day for 300 probably less now since the construction industry is on its ear....linx wrote:I have no use for something like that, but it is a good deal.

That would be easier said than done with a 80' tower! I have raised 50' windmill's doing it this way. (fully assembled) and getting them up is one thing, but trying to keep it from tipping over while your trying to get the other 2 legs anchored is another! At 80', the slightest breeze could really ruin your day...Plus, you have to consider if you want the antenna already mounted, or if your going to try and climb the thing later to install the antenna...lonesome 500 wrote:free standing 3 or 4 leg towers are easy to raise........simply anchor 2 legs with the tower fully assembled...make a pulley stain relief....ie: 1 piece of cable attached at 40 and 60 foot mark...with a pulley snatch block on the cable...this is where you attach the tension [pull] cable.....pulley moves along cable as tower angle changes

But...for that price, it would probably be worth trying.
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Stand the first section like that, get it anchored to your caisson and unbolt the X braces, Keep them numbered and start pulling them up after the legs are on. It would take 3 guys about a day to do 80' that way. You will have to borrow or make a gin pole to lift above the leg etc. not hard, just a lot of time is all, or spent the money and get a crane. Your biggest expense will be the concrete caissons to anchor to. You can call the manufacture and get a new set of anchor bolts with alignment rings as well. You do not want to us tap-cons etc to try and anchor it. I good 50mph gust will knock it over if not anchored properly.
