Interference issues(TVI?)

Well since fuel continues to rise. I have decided to set up a base station.

Every time i key up and talk i somehow wipe out the mouse and key board or worse. Now if its just one of those two or both i just disconnect and re connect and they work again. Annoying.

It happens with Uniden 68 and Stryker 440, barefoot. The radios sit across the room from the computer about 5-8 feet on a desk. Rg mini 8 for coax(for now).

Is there any way to stop this from happening?

I really don't have any other room that i can put the radios or computer in lol.

Your problem can be one that is very easy to fix or very difficult, first thing is to figure out what is happening.

I do have some questions though. Is your system grounded, and what kind of antenna are you using?

Well, first off, your problem isn't TVI...it's RFI.

You didn't say, but I assume your mouse and keyboard are wireless? I had a Logitech wireless mouse that would freeze up when I talked on 11 meters. I simply took a ferrite snap on choke and wrapped several turns of the mouse receiver/charger around the choke close to the base of the receiver/charger and that cleared it up.

seriously though, I would first suspect you have a wireless mouse/keyboard on 27MHz. Use your +10KHz switch to check the R/C channels for data signal. If you have wired mouse/keyboard, those "lumps" on their cables near where they connect to computer should absorb that RF trouble.

You could have RF on your CB coax, caused by the lack of ground plane on your base-station antenna.
You may need to coil your coax on a pvc pipe near your antenna to reduce the RF on your coax.

My wireless mouse does not lock up but I can hear the communication signal between the mouse and the computer on 27.025. Not very strong even for a mud duck but sometimes can be irritating if I have the squelch set just right to listen for dx.

hit the reset button on mouse and hit reset button on keyboard to change the mouse and keyboard channel
i had the same problem did the reset buttons and no more problem
and that with 5000 watts deadkey within arm reach of flick of switch

hope the reset works for you

oh and better coax for the base would be a great improvement
