It means that it has an internal power supply to run it that you plug into the wall. You would need a separate power supply for the radio. Really no recommendation on antennas. Any of the more popular verticals or beams on the market would work...

EDIT: Sorry, didn't answer all your questions. It is a 2x2SC2879 so you wouldn't need a driver. The .5 - 4 watt DK from your radio would drive it fine. As far as power supply goes, a 7amp would handle up to a 70 watt radio, but you may want to consider a larger supply if you want to run more then just the radio off it or if you plan on upgrading later on so you won't have to buy a larger supply later on...

SwampHog wrote:k thanks alot for the info! So the power supply for the radio just has to be rated high enough to handle the radio itself? The power your running through your amp dosnt have anything to do with it?
Exactly...the amp's power is supplied by plugging it into the wall (110/120v) and the radio will need to be plugged into a (12v) power supply. This is for the base amp. If you were to use a mobile amp in the house then you would need a power supply for it also since it does not have a self contained power supply like the base amp does. Hope this helps to clarify things a bit...

some base amps have terminals to hook your radio to, but amps like this have internal power supplies around 16 volts. That would hurt your radio.

just get any brand (preferably not pyramid) power supply somewhere around 7 amps to be safe.
