I'd go with the DX93T for not a lot more money my self. The Connex is a built on the Ranger 6900 series board which is what the Galaxy DX93 is based on, the others are more or less based on the Ranger 3600 series board. The receive is better on the 6900 series board, it has many improvments. In fact you won't see Galaxy produce another radio with the 3600 series board, they say it's old news. The Magnum has cheaper feeling knobs, but overall the realiability is very good. I'd say if you want an Good SSB radio the DX99 would be a waste. The DX93 drift has greatly improved over the first versions of the radio.

I Love Galaxy radios, but they drift like an old Siltronix 1011D,,,Newbies won't know what that radio is, it was one of the Best in its day, I would come home on Friday night, turn on the 1011D, and not turn it off until Sunday late, Love the 1011D's but you had to let them really get warmed up,,,,LOL

SOME 4800s are stable. While its built on a stable platform, Ive had a ton of them off frequency. But that chassis is more stable. If its not a 2950/70 then its not worth its salt on SSB (just my thought!)

I've owned or talked on all the radios mentioned. I use a magnum s-9 and a galaxy 99. Out of the box I would pick the magnum s-9. If you could get a great tech to work on the galaxy 99 and put a 50 watt hop-up in it then I might say the 99.
The magnum s-9 out of the box "don't touch it" and you won't find a nicer ssb radio for the same money.
That's my opinion; but you know what they say about opinions.

you know if a tech came up with a fix for the drifting that the galaxys do on sideband and market it,that tech would end up making lots of money. :hypnotic:

Well boys and girls i finally broke down and went and bought an SWR meter so i go home and put this in line and i have an SWR of about 3.5 - 4 the guy i bought the antenna from told me run 18' of coax with this Predator 10K's stinger run all the way to the bottom and you will have a perfect SWR (BS) Bigtime. Now i know why my radios weren't performing as good as i thought they should but know i can tell a big diffrence i talked all over in my mobile last nite and everbody thought i was on a base but no i was on a SuperWackPacked General Lee(oh and RadioActive i put that Asatic 636L back on there and everybody said it was crystal clear goes to show you should listen to the man who built the radio) WHAT YA THANK!!!! Now my radio really is SMOKIN up the airwaves ive said to you before and i'll say it again THANKS RADIOACTIVE.
OH P.S. The best i could do since my first time to set the SWR's is 1.1 on ch 1 and 1.4 on ch 40 it is about a 1.3 on ch 20 is that very good or do i need to try to get it better.?.?.?
