I got a little midland 1000 radio that I had when I first got into it and was gonna put it into the wife's Dodge . I was wondering if I put a power mic on this thing will it be OK . The radio is stock and I'm just looking to give it that extra push, but I don't want to ruin the radio. I have heard of people blowing the final or something on cheaper radio's with just a power mic. Any help would be great .
Thanks

it will be fine i use to have one of thouse back in my "cut the mod limiter" days and it was a nice good talking radio..ended up putting it on a bike and the bike got stollen
A power mic is designed to allow you to hold the mic away from your face to talk. If you are looking to increase output power with a power mic, you may be disapointed. Turning up the power and then talking close or loud will overdrive the signal and can burn boards out.
Ive never seen that happen before. Ive used 575M6s as long as they were out. And MinuteMan IIs before that.
I do agree you maybe disappointed however. Get a big radio if you want loud!!! LOL
You won't burn the board, if that was so look how many D 104's would of burned up radios over the years,, but if you really want it loud have it tuned, if you want it louder get a General LEE SUPERWACKEDPACKED!!!
