Its not my favorite. Connex as a whole builds good radios. The 4800 is just that a good radio. Its not built on the normal export chassis like a 3300 h/p, Galaxy 88/99, etc these chassis are great. They have alot of features, but its not connexs best model. They sure look sweet however!
To me good all round, but I like export chassis the best. As a general rule, if the radio comes with variable talkback as a factory option this chassis is not my favorite. Again however its good, but not near as good as the 3300 h/p

thanks for the info, I like all the features on my 200gtl, was just thinking of trying connex's full feature radio,..
Are you running yours as a mobile or base?

Dose connex make a full feature radio on a export chassis?

Im guessing your asking about a SSB chassis. No they dont. The thing about export chassis is they dont make the best ssb chassis. The 4800 is a much better ssb radio.

oh yea.. there is alot of radioheads around here.. alot of big radios too..lol ..
makes it hard on a feller with just a mobile...lol

I picked up talking on ssb alot. skip seems to be a little easier. there. lol
& was just curious about this 4800.. might give one a wirl, as I love genral lee & longstreet,.. & my 3300hp does good in the work truck..
figured this would be a good ssb radio..

Do you work on these? pm me a price for one superwachpacked & superrecive..
thanks!

Im using my 4800 as a base.i have a few radios i use as a base but this one i really like.a few things I notice about it though the knobs and push buttons seem kinda cheap. They dont feel like there made as well as my cobras.the talk back works good on it i like the roger beep and the echo is good too.I talk most of the time on side band .It will drift a little bit untill its warmed up i give it about 15 min or so.The only thing that seems a little strange is everyone gives me 3 pounds higher of a signal for some reason.Im using an Astatic 575 power mic on it the stock mic it comes with aint worth a dam.Everyone i talk to tells me it sounds real good. :Peace!:

The Connex 4600 looks like an awesome radio.... when I have some expenable cash flow I think I'm going to get a Superwhackpacked 4600. By the sounds of it, it might be the biggest radio out there.

was planning on trying the 4800 in the mobile as all my boxes are driven & using the 200gtl for a base..
when you say 3lbs. higher signal..what are comparing it to?.
& Where did you get yours from?
cheapest place I found was $299.00
