I agree, those LP-100A's are awesome.

I'm also pro-bird. You can pick up a used Bird 43 for around $160 from NM3E and pick up whatever size slug you want to go from there for usually between $60-150 each. The good Bird PEP kits are available via manufacturer for around $60 and are simple to install.

Was looking for a place to buy a bird and maybe a 10k slug. any more info will be greatly appreciated. I have just about all my stuff in and will start putting it together next week when my building(10x12) will be delivered.

There's a few sponsors that sell used bird meters. I think Pro-Tech and Redman have some used ones.

Also google NM3E...that's where I got mine. If you're going for that wattage, I trust a true 50ohm strait through meter like a bird over any circuit board style meter.

Hey guys,

After reading this post and reviewing the LPA-100A meters I bought one tonight. I got one with the 5KW coupler. Can't wait to get it here.

You'll be happy with that meter. That's definitely a great rig. I've read up on them too, but since I already have a bird, I can't really justify buying one unless I sell the bird and buy it.
