102" whip on A-99??

Could you replace the 102" SS whip for the fiberglass shaft on these type antennas? Buddy at work just asked me and I have no clue. Providing all the necessary grounding is applied w/ground plane kit (I"m sure that's necessary here).

As always, thank you CBRT members!!

I have no personal experience with doing that, but there are several locals that have done it both with the A-99 and Imax 2000. They all sound fine to me and the locals haven't reported any SWR problems. I may try it next time I'm fooling around with my antenna...just for the heck of it! 8)

These are a 1/2 over a quarter.
Top is 215, under the cap is a 108.
Buy a copper rod 1/2, 5,8 or a wave length.
