What size power supply?
What size (amps) power supply would I need to properly run a RCI 2950 and TS 500?
Thanks!

make me one of those mounting brackets like the one in that picture and I'll be happy to tell you whatever you want to know! That's pretty neat. Anyway, According to Texas Star's specifications on a 500, it's maximum current draw is about 45 amps plus about 5 or so for the 2950...I'd say a 50 amp supply would work.

Thanks for the power supply info and the flowers on the mobile! I was hoping to get away with less but I know that you are right.
The mounting bracket is only available for SD F250's but can be had through Havis Shields. Check them out on the net.
Thanks Again!

Wow! Beautiful setup!!
I assume you are looking for a PS to run this as a base or is your mobile 24v or something? I run a TS500 and SWP Gen. Lee on a 90a alt and 2-750cca batteries with no problemmos. Man I am still tripping over that install. Never saw one like that---awesome! Too bad I couldn't find something like that for my Jeep Grand Cherokee

Slim Jim, my sideband call sign is "Keystone 428". Hang on 273850 mostly, but do float around upward where ever the DX action happens to be.
Visegrip, thanks man! Heard your handle mentioned on a DX conversation between two locals. Don't worry, it was all good! (unless there's another Visegrip around?)
Trouble, you're exactly right. I'm planning on pulling the truck into my garage when not on the road and use it for a base station. Will be putting up a newly painted fifty foot tower and a Interceptor 10K soon. If you or a buddy are good with metal working, I'm sure you could make the console work in any truck!

I've run an Astron 50 amp and a 35 amp for two or three years now with no problems. They seem to be pretty solid. By the way, I'm known locally as "342" on 27.385 MHz and my VOA number is "726" on 27.505 MHz. They usually host a net on Wednesdays and Sundays from 8pm to 9pm. Jump in there and holler for me next time you get a chance.cobra jet wrote:Any brand of power supply recommended over the others??

I don't know if it is 'cost effective' but you can place them parallel (or is it in series) as long as they are identical PS (make, model, settings).
Thought about this myself as the 50-70a PS can be $$$$$$$

TO be honest you will need 2 power supplies 1 small 1 for the radio i use a 12 amp it is more than enough as for the 500 i think that's a 4 pill if so a 50 amp will have its hands full i recommend a 60 to 70 amp keep in mind that for every 2 pills you have 35 amps of pull ......................good luck..............COACH..............A REAL GROUNDSHAKER.............
