Sometimes I see used ones for sale on eBay.beebuzzbee wrote:Well, the box showed up at work today. Consider the age she is in really nice shape over all and also came with an extra set of RCA tube. The only disappointment is it does not have the AM filter, instead it has the XF 30-A SSb filter. Now I'm on the hunt for a AM filter to put in her
You can buy a new one here [Please login or register to view this link] (hope the link did not get edited). I think you will need to add a board to host the filter. Not sure but you may be able to swap the SSB filter for the AM filter, but you would have to re-rewire the board to the mode switch for AM.

The FT 102 uses a hybrid circuit with a 12BY7 driver and 3 6146B finals which are designed for use in a transmitter. Capable of up to 200 Watts as compared to the FT 101 series that use a pair of 6JS6C's which are TV Sweep tubes and can't take as much abuse. It also has a more sensitive and selective receiver with IF Shift and Width. It has a digital frequency display 2 panel meters one for receive and one for transmit. With the 101 using one meter for receive and transmit and an analog display.1skywalker wrote:How does the ft102 compare to the 101 series? Sorry for the hyjack.

Thanks. I'm in the market for a 101e and ran across the 102 at a ham fest and was looking for some info on it. The link was a good help. I'll wait for a good 101 to come around.Night Crawler wrote:If your thinking about getting one and running it on am or fm. You will need the optional module if it's not already installed. With the FT102 you also get the WARC Bands 30,17 and 12 meters which are not in the 101.
