I have a cobra 29 in a peterbilt truck. It will transmit fine in the morning, but it wont receive until it heats up (I have to turn on the defrost on high for like 15 min before it will receive). Is it just getting old like me or what? Thanks for answers to my other questions by the way.
A couple of things come to mind, a bad solder joint, or the audio chip might be going bad, I would think more towards the solder joint from being bounced around in a truck, I had a Galaxy 949 worked for a while and then did the same thing, found to be a bad solder (cold solder) joint.....good Luck
Well..........ya could change all the tubes in that thing..... OR..... buy a new solid state radio, I hear those dont have that problem.
Takes a while for all them old tubes to warm up !

bingo thats your problem or problems...99% of thouse are bad solder joints
I appreciate you (well big bopper anyway) taking the time to answer my questions. I think Im going to retire the old 29 to the pickup, Maybe mount it by the floor heater where the tubes can stay warm.
