2 alternator install in a peterbilt with a 3406 b cat engine
has anyone done this? if so, i would like to see some pictures of where you mounted second alternator. i am wanting to do this to my truck since i have a new motor city reman 22 si 250 amp on the way and 150 amp stock alternator that is only 1 year old. as long as it is on a 3406 b engine i would be interested in the pictures.

dont have any pics, but where the stock alternator bolts down with the four bolts
get a thick plate measure twice the distance to where the second alt will sit beside it
drill holes in plate where it can bolt to the stock mounting bolts holes mount new alt and then mount the second alt beside it then get a longer belt maybe a idler pulley try to make to where the belt can get at least a 3/4 of a wrap on each pulley
even seen a setup were you take out the 4 bolts that hold the stock alt
measure from hte mounting plate thru the stock alt then sit the 2nd alt on top of stock alt measure that givien enough room to add nuts
inbetween each alt add 4 spacers
using allthread tighten the althread into alt mounting bolt holes
then slide stock alt down onto the allthread bolts u can use nuts to tighten down the first alt
add spacers then slide second alt down onto spacers then tighten with nuts and lockwashers on top of 2nd alt
hope this helps
and if you got a pic of how your stock alt is setup i can go alitttle more into details
