Wilson Coax

My Wilson 1000 has gone to you know what on me, and it's looking like something is shorted. There are no VISIBLE nicks in the coax, so I think it's where it connects to the bottom of the trunk mount. Is it too hard to solder another length of coax on to that pl259 connector that the original coax runs to? Should I just try to order another coax with the connector from wilson?

If I can replace it myself, what size coax do I need? It doesn't have to take much power, but I'm really really unfamiliar with coax. I know someone who has the r8x type and a few others.

Not hard to solder if you have a good soldering station. Used to be a problem ( Back in the day ) with trunk mounts and the cable had to curve sharply which caused pinching and failier of the cable.

Come on down to GA and I'll solder it for you, just bring me the gen lee !!!

Its easy to replace the coax on a 1000. HINT DO NOT REMOVE the plastic cover over the magnet! The entire thing unbolts from the top nut on the so-239!

I have the trunk lip mounted version. I just twisted off the coil and whip from the connector then unscrewed the whole assembly of coax and connector. Now, I just need to know if it's easy enough to fix and what coax to use.
