#192986

Post by Alabama_Cajun »

Hi everybody!

Check out the setup I just got.
It is the complete setup minus the antenna (which I plan on getting later).

* President Madison
* D-104
* 25amp power supply
* Dosey Meter
* 150 kicker
* Field strength meter
* 1 driving 3 tube foot warmer

You can see the big pics here:

It looks like a nice setup. I can't wait to get it all hooked up and test it out.

Mr. Salter, an old radio man went silent in January of this year.

His son didn't have any use for the equipment and so I bought it off of him.

I brought it home and took some pics then took the lot over to a local shop to have him put it on the bench, making sure everything works as designed.

I should get it back mid-next week and start cleaning up the equipment and hooking things up.

All-in-all, it was a good deal... to take over some else's setup that they worked so hard to accumulate over the years and keep it running.

Looks great, and I'm sure it'll perform even better than it looks! Those older Uniden/President bases are rock solid and hard to beat!

I've been wanting to get a base for some time now, but just didn't find a deal worth jumping on... not until this one came along.

I think that it will be a nice setup. Not a lot of power, just a good radio to keep in the saddle and talk local.

Looks Good, I think you will like it. I have a Madison myself but its sitting in the box, I can not set up a Base at this time. I had mine Peaked and Tuned and the Extra Chan. put in with the Silver Eagle and a PDL 2 at 36' to Boom and I worked the world and I mean the World England,France ,Germany, Hungary, Scottland, Finland,Russia, and that was with no Boot that was at 15-20 Watt pep on SSB and 10 on AM. That was working the conditions.

I think you have a graet combo and if you get it checked out and tunned up I think you have a great set up!

I got the call this morning, all was well except the D-104 wasn't working and the foot warmer had an issue. The Mic will be looked at a little closer today to find you the trouble and I reckon that I will hold off on getting the big box fixed... I really don't have a need for it right now.

Now I've been thinking of a good (starter) antenna to put on top of the house. Any preferences?

The good thing is those mics are fairly simple to work on, and there's so many of them around that any decent person with electronics experience can repair it. It's definitely worth repairing!
