What would be a good desk mic? I have a old D104, would it work OK if I had the plug changed or should I sell it and get something else?

That will probably work well.

I have found the 104's too tinny sounding for my taste.

I prefer the turner + 3

They can be found on the bay for 50-75 bucks depending on the shape they are in.

yeah, the washington has great audio as is. if the d104 is a great mic, i dont know if you use the sideband on that washington. but if you do the d104 will work, but the turner +3 will work even better.(only do that if your running ssb though)

Great advice here. I run mine the same way: D104 for AM and Turner +3 for SSB (sometimes the Turner Super Sidekick, depending on my mood...lol).

I've got a D 104 on my Washington also. Seems to work just fine and it's got plenty of volume.

I have a d104, 5 pin, already wired if that washington is a 5 pin, in the for sale section. bump bump. Whether or not you buy mine, the d104 in general is hard to beat, an old sadelta would be fun too, but some do like the Turner sound. Both are good, just different.

The D 104 may sound a bit tinny. Don't know about that, never heard my own side of a qso, but never got any complaints. Might even be a bit easier to hear than if it had any bassiness to it.
