Simple ground plane antenna

Need:

1x panel mount SO239 connector
1x roll of 12 gauge wire
4x nuts and bolts to attach wire [or solder them]
soldering iron
patience



cut 5 lengths of wire 102" long.
Solder one to the center conductor of the SO239 connector
Solder or bolt the other four to the holes of the connector, going out at 45 degree angles from the center of the connector

voila! You have a ground plane!
