thats what i thought but the little cbs dont see no speaker on them in the front.. so that means its in the back or side therefor if i do a custom install it will block the speaker ..mmm maybe i should just buy a 18 wheeler and get a big cb with 12" speaker lol
btw i hear guys talk about tranmitters and amps what are these for?

Normally the speaker is on the bottom of the radio, if you do a in dash install you can always buy an external speaker and plug to the EXT SPKR jack on the back of the radio. I have my radio in the glove box, and if I have it turned up just enough I can hear it with the glove box closed. You be surprised how loud those little radios are. I fixed up a cobra19dx2 for a friend of mine and that thing has clearer audio compared to my new cobra29.

Yep and if you buy it from Sparkys he'll set it up for you free. So in the end you get a kick **Censored** radio for less.MoJo wrote:[Please login or register to view this link]
Look at the Uniden pc68.
Use coupon code pre-grand and get 10%.
Then go to Unidens website and print off the rebate form.
Brand new radio ends up being like 30-40 bucks.
Cant go wrong.

Yes, the antenna is what makes or breaks any radio system.
Rule of thumb: Spend the dough for the tallest antenna/best antenna you can afford to run/afford to live with. Then spend the dough and get a radio.
A good mag mount antenna would be a Wilson 1000, or a Wilson 5000....if you intend on running a butt load of power. Both antenna have 5 foot tall whips.
Next up would be a 102 whip, which is said to get out there like no one's business. The biggest drawback is they're so high, but they're inexpensive ($22 at Radio Shack) and very efficient. When used with the proper corresponding barrel spring ($17 at Radio Shack), it ends up being 9 feet tall.
Yes the Uniden radios as of right now have a rebate on them. So you could call up Sparky and have him tune you up a kick butt PC 68 radio for $90 shipped to your door, then send in the rebate and get your remaining refund.

Uniden 68 or Cobra 25. Trust me, you will find the space for them. The members of this board talked me out of the Uniden 510/Cobra 19 and I'm glad they did. Just go on Ebay and search Uniden 510. Everybody is selling one . They're not bad radio's, you just might find yourself wanting to upgrade sooner than you think. Wilson 1000 at a minimum for antenna. If the 62" whip is a little too RC car for you, then the 39" center load will get you through most drive thru's It doea the job for me.

I'd go with a Cobra 19 if you're looking for compact.

I think it depends on which Cobra 19 you're talking about. I've been told so far the LTD II's were good but the DX III and DX IV models were crap. I just did pick up an LTD II and it looks like a mini Cobra 25, has the slide meter and all.Pulaski wrote:Uniden 68 or Cobra 25. Trust me, you will find the space for them.
