My old setup, good enough
Washington base with low channels added, swings good and sounds allot bigger than what it is. Amp is a old Palomar 300 tube, dead keys 130 and will almost swing 500. D104 mic shows it's age but still sounds good. Not a fancy set up but it gets out pretty good despite it's age. Antenna is a V58 40 feet up with 231 coax making the connection. The radio hanging on the shelf is a 148 I bought in 1990 and ran in my mobile. It is hooked up to a A99 20 feet up on the roof of my shop and stays on the local channel when scaning the band. Other radios laying around are the result of a habit developed from this site. Yea I need another radio for......reason.

It's a 300A and she is working good. When I got it, it had the tall tubes in it and was shorting on the top case. I spaced the case up and had to replace a cap but she talks real good. I have ran a export with a class C in my mobile for years so most people are shocked to find old school stuff on my base. I have a similar Palomar 310M and like it alot. Either mine or yours aren't the biggest boxes, but are still solid little amplifiers. A good little upgrade for them is installing a small DC fan inside for cooling!backwoods wrote:It's a 300A and she is working good. Mine has a fan inside, it does OK moving air and I have a small AC fan on the outside when I need more cooling. I know my watts are low but it's about all I need in my area.
