TV on the CB

#20838

Post by theonlysilentbob »

I have been up to my neck in work these past few months, with little to no computer time, but given I have some spare time this weekend, I was thinking about possibly playing around with the idea of television on the CB. Possibly setting up a fast-scan system, the CB is will adapted given the bandwidth and typical AM operation which is fine for no-voice TX but I am just thinking, what is the point is no one else has anything going so I am wondering if anyone has actually experimented with TV?

Has anyone ever experimented sending regular pictures over the cb? To RX there is a bunch of software on the net and you would just have to plug your CB's speaker cable into your PC to decode the still images [Please login or register to view this link] <-software, some is free!

I might consider TXing some pictures in the future.... just for the hell of it if anyone is around to watch hahaha.

I know some hams who send files via radio, dont know about pix but seams like if you can send data pacs via a comp you should be able to send other types of data.

Yeah, but there is no point in really playing with files and stuff, like FSK/RTTY on the CB band is a bad idea when the internet exists. Unless you already have the equipment it is more like one of those things you would do just because you could. I just had the idea of video since it adds another element but I was thinking people probably would not have the RX equipment so SSTV would be a much better idea, then you could use you handles/signs and send pictures! =)

Good when skip is up! Then it would be more fun than just voice, TX is a little harder than RX but most people could do RX if they had a CB and computer. So the population of people who could do it would be much larger.

This is the first picture I would send with the handle... [Please login or register to view this link] LOL
