Which Radio
Which Radio
If you had money in hand and the choice of S/W/P General Lee or a S/W/P w/ option #2 on a Connex 4600 turbo what would you buy?
Simple choice, I bought the SWP 4600 Turbo. I have enough going on in my truck I didnt want a seperate amp. I havent had the time to do much testing but I have recieved and transmitted 25 -30 miles with clear modualtion. Today, I didnt have any problems talking to truckers. When I asked a question, I got an answer.
May buy a Gen Lee for one of my other vehicles but for my main driver....... got what I wanted !

Depends. If I wanted the radio to use as a base as well as mobile, I'd actually steer more towards a S/W/P 2950DX for all the 10/11/12 meter [modified] goodies for talkin skip [LSB, USB, CW if you're hardcore]
Then, in a few years when CB will be exploding with skip, you can jump on USB and talk to the UK with no problem.
No wait, you're only allowed to talk up to 120 miles away... pfffft AHAHAHAHA

If you don't want an amp go with the 4600.
:Peace!:

I know this guy you can call. oh ya he has amps too.

The guys are giving good advice, except for eating mosfets.dwoodruff wrote:If you had money in hand and the choice of S/W/P General Lee or a S/W/P w/ option #2 on a Connex 4600 turbo what would you buy?
I enjoy the separate components if you can fit them. With the General Lee, there are lots of amps that you can put behind it, or lay low barefoot (like in apartment complexes)
I also really enjoy the additional / optional variable talkback on mine!
I guess you could put a high drive amp behind a 4600 turbo too?
Ask Mr. RA if a General Lee running a 400 watt amp is less touchy / temperamental than a SWP 4600 turbo.
RE:which radio
I'd buy both too if I had the money. How bout if I buy one and you give me the other one.

Mr. Phazemaster?
Some guy called SmallTruck... was asking Phaze why he would even consider putting an amp behind a SWP 4600....aka bouncing off of Mars...Moon...etc.
...and next thing you know, were getting ready to drill holes through the moon!
