A 2x8 is a good driver, but enough to be called "power" by most, here in my neck of the woods. -drdx

9913 is the best in my humble opinion for this 8 pill power range. The flex version has slightly less power handling ability. Same with the LMR400 versions.

Belden 9913 solid core. 100 % shield. 0 loss. My instal has two 9' jumper and the main feed line is 11'10''. The SWRs can in flat with a 102'' with no spring. Now its just out of frequency and im waiting on the 108'' (MFJ-1966) whip to come in. (Ill let yall know what happens after the new whip install)

I thought this stuff was going to be so stiff it wouldn't work. But really. It was real easy to snake into the mobil. Making some pretty tight bends and all. I used a mig gun liner to snake it in place.

As for the RG 8x. In realality it can only handle 300 watts. I ran it for a few years on a 2 x 4 and had to change it out about every 3 months. Man that was starting too get costly. How i found out that it was wearing out is in the last install of the RG 8X my recieve was killer. I could hear the operators in Galvaston on a daily basis. There about 30 miles from me. Talking with them as well. I notice after about a month or so that they sounded weaker and weaker. They would say the same about my transmit. At about three months I wouldn't be able to here them at all. Change the coax and BOOM they were back.

I got out the old coax last night and check the Ohm's on, it came in at 19. I got some spare Rg 8x cut it to the same length. put ends on it and it Ohm'ed at 50. How it gets broke down like that i don't know. It just does.

Hope this help ya out.

Nothing wrong with the lmr 240 either.Your not running 3000 watts.240 is much easier to work with and more than sufficiant.Been running this in my truck for 2 years now. Gal.99-1pill-8pill.LMR240-copper coil antenna.
