Hight Is Might !!
Well, I been jawing about it for a while but now I done done it ! Raised my antenna another 30' Got the top pokin about 8' over the pine trees. Since I sit on a hill, higher than most ground around me, this is about as far as I want to push it. The small plain airport is close to me but I dont think they will fly 8' off my trees ! and with the tree cover I have you can only see it if your in front of my house. Checked SWR and got a radio check 25 miles out and he said I was pegging his needle. Now will try to talk to Madhadder on there again and see if we have a difference ! He's about 35 miles from me.

Well, so far the comments are great, still havent got hold of Madhadder yet and see what he thinks. One thing that I have noticed is that the noise level on RX is much lower and I am hearing great. On my home channel ( 12 ) I have been talking to quite a few people and some had a weak signal, now I am hearing um much clearer.

Bottom is just about 65 feet. My base is not as powerful as the 4600 but what a difference the hight makes ( Antenna too ). was talking to someone about 30 miles out while driving home and had contact but was very low. Told um I was home and will get on the base, hit um back and he said I had 3X the signal and on return so did he. So, I gata say, The hight and antenna make all the difference in the world. Now I know why I was able to DX with a bare foot radio.
Bad thing is, now I think I need more antenna on the mobile.
