mobile connections
Just pulled out a dusty Radio Shack 23 channel for my driver. My question, the wiring has three wires, RED,WHITE,BLACK. I know red is +, Blk is -, but what do you do with the white wire?

not to sure about that white wire, id say hook up the red and black and if the radio turns on cap that white wire and roll with it.

Some older radios used the white wire to control the lights in the radio. The white wire was connected to the dash light circuit.
No way to tell for sure without the model number.

That's kinda what I was wondering. Sometimes there is a wire that hooks in to run accessories and the like on electronics. A model number would help.

I'm guessing that is an ignition switch wire. As old as it is, battery draw was a much bigger concern back then due to battery and charging technology.

Probably red to battery...Black to ground...white to ignition. (something that is only "Hot" when key is turned on)

What's with the chicken dinner? Is that your big white zebra striped firetruck that sits over at Babe's chicken all the time with the 10k on it? Really, it's a truck stop antenna, but I thought that'd get your attention. Now I gotta have some chicken, soon.

Thanks to all, you were correct, white/red wire go together, and of course Black is ground. Just had it laying in my Tool Box, and thought it would be good for the daily driver.
