07 Tacoma
Have a friend who would like to get into the hobby if i can convince him there is a good way to mount his antenna. It a single cab Tacoma with fiberglass topper (Leer). The topper has racks on the top and he carries canoes and kayaks up there quite often. I suggested that he fabricate a stand between the cab and topper and mount it there. Any suggestions or others with similar problem? Any suggestions on smaller chassis radio (barefoot)?

Re:
Interesting. I have an 07 with a 102" whip and an HR-2510 (no amp), in addition to an Icom IC-2820 50W 2 meter/70 cm mobile. No problems at all with the computer.qwerksc wrote:My 05 tacoma, is for sale. I put a little radio, amp combo in there and just fry the computer. Lots of people have had no problems with there tacomas, but as for mine, I can shut the thing down from 10 ft away with my other mobile set up. My 2 cents

if one is worried about stray RF, go down to your local craft store and buy some copper sheets, it will come in a foil roll or you can also get larger pieces in sheet metal form. wrap the foil all around the wires going to the ecm and then take some of that sheet metal like copper and wrap your ecm in that.

Re: 07 Tacoma
Sorry been out fer a while. My girl friend and I just had our first child. Son, Elwood, 8lb 10oz, thats a whole other story. The tacoma, I put a Urd cold air intake on the truck, which extends the maf sensor 18" from stock and also threw in a piggyback maf sensor calibrator, so you can tune the vehicle for optimum air to fuel. upon doing so, to the best of all my head scratching, I pretty certain that this is where the rf is getting to the computer. I created the entry. Ta da, I my process for more horsepower, I kill it with rf power. Fairly simple. I pooched myself. I'm over it now,but it took a while. I put my radio in a 92' dodge cummins 4x4 flatbed. It gets respect.
