I think you've run into the same 'problem' most people have with 'newer' vehicles, where the @#$$ do you mount the thing!? The typical answer is wherever you can that doesn't interfere with something else, and where it'll fit. Your imagination will work about as well as anyone else's, so crank it up and exercise that imagination a little bit. If you figure out the 'perfect' place without having to chainsaw the @#$ dash, help me figure out where to put one in an '04 Silverado! :) Oh yeah, you need to accomodate all the other junk I got stuck to the dash also. Ain't this $#^+ fun??

You could buy a pedestal mount......attach the pedestal mount to the floorboard on the transmission hump if you plan on no one sitting in the center of the seat.

This is really be side the point or 'off topic'.
But, have you seen the price on some of those pedestal mounts for lap-top computers? I've bought used computers for less than that! Unfortunately, with the gear shifter in the floor, some of those pedestal mounts just don't 'fit'. Not if you're as cheap as me, anyway...

Another one of those 'unfortunate' thingys is that the few I'd really like sitting in that center seat, next to me, wouldn't be caught 'dead' riding with me anyway. Oh well.

I found one on Ebay a couple days ago for $12.95......not too bad priced.

yea there isnt a good spot at all. could put it on the center hump but then to hard to get at storage compartment set it to far forward then cup holder wont work. cant mount it on dash any where. might have to go to the ceiling but thinkin it will sit back to far beings it has the temperature deal and what not up there.

I have a 2003 ram and i have had mine mounted either on the dashboard just velcroed right on there and right now i have it under the steering column on the big piece of plastic. it is as far to the right as i can get it and it works great. There are a few pics on this site of people who have mounted them standing straight up and down right up next to the center seat. I cant do it that way bc i have storage compartment underneath my middle seat. I really want to mount mine on the ceiling but i cant bc of the temp gauge but im thinking maybe about turning it sideways so that knobs are facing me and mounting it to the ceiling. Let me know what you figure out if something else im always looking for a change.

watchdawg im in the same boat as you. have the temp gauge and storage compartment under the middle seat. found a guy that mounted his under the temp gauge deal but he had to take his rear view mirror off.dad has an 08 ram same setup as our interior made a bracket out of wood that slit under the middle seat he can slide it out enough to get into the bottom compartment. might end up going that route. really want to put it on the roof but thinking it will sit back to far with the temp gauge.

hoyt i saw that install where he took the mirror off and i was thinking that is possible then you could always put the mirror back on just a little bit lower

yeah i have seen something like what you dad did but a guy just fabbed up a mount that he bolted to the floor a little bit away from the compartment so that he could open it still and the cupholders would still come down. I think im gonna look at installing on the temp gauge thing and moving the mirror down to underneath the radio

This was in my '05 Dodge Ram Quad cab 4x4. Bracket is made by Victory from CB City. Was like $12.00. They make one for Cobra 29 size radios and DX chassis like the Galaxy 88, General Lee, Ranger, etc.... Hope this helps.

i looked earlier today about mounting my general lee to the bottom side of the temp gauge like the guy on the internet. if you move the rearview mirror down 2 inches or so you can still have it and use it. I personally dont think i would reinstall it im still trying to figure out how to keep the temp gauge from pulling out of the ceiling, but i think that will be where i permantently install at

I like Rayray's mount. That is a good permanent way to go. In my truck I resorted to an old plastic " hump mount" with a built in external speaker. Only problem is that the radio is now in the way of the drink holder. I've thought about using some older cell phone Z mounts that were used to mount older cell phone hand sets. There were some extendable types around too. Maybe they are available on Ebay. They would have to be cheap.....

i hope to this weekend get a chance to attempt to mount to the roof so if i get the chance i will take some pics and let you know how it works i know that the mirror will either have to be removed and remounted lower or just remove without reinstalling.
