Well I tuned up the radio and got it to swing to twenty watts with a four watt dk The question I have now is I got the best swing with removing center screw on l 13 is this going to hurt or is it ok to leave it out

That will be ok I had to do that with a couple of radios. That has the same effect as spreading the windings on the coil with the one's that don't have a slug. Just don't lose the slug in case you you want to put it back.

(i know, i know, the golden rule---- (DONT CUT THE LIMITER!!!!!)
i have 2 87 gtl's (same board as 89) d16 is cut on both and people rave about how awesome these radios sound.
your decision.

No stingray I didn't cut it turned up the modulation vr and it swings to 20 thats good enough
