no interference when cold?

coming home from work this past week, it's been really cold at night. when i start my car, 90% of the interference i get during the day when it's warm is gone. why is this?

Two factors come into play here. The cold air will naturally dissipate static in the air and also at night they is less ambient noise to deal with.

Mine does the same thing it seems that there are less waves bouncing around or something causing less static and also i agree with what is previously said. Cold air disapates static and so at night time longer contacts are more common. I know i can talks easily 20 miles from my house at night when during hte day i can normally only talk about 8 to 12 miles
