where's the best place to ground my tail pipe? i'm going to ground trunk, doors, hood and pipe.... anything else i should ground?

At least near the tip. Some also ground it in the middle as well as the tip.

Doing it twice is best. Once where it leaves the engine and again at the end. I'm not sure how you plan on doing this but do NOT drill a hole in the exhaust system. I did that once and made my connection with a screw. The exhaust corroded the screw within a months and, naturally, the electrical connection went south. I suggest you clean the spot where you want to make the connection with sandpaper. Then, put a large flat lug on the wire you're using. Get a hose clamp and some conductive gel or paste. Apply some to the sanded down part of the exhaust system and some on the lug. Hold the lug to the spot on the exhaust system and tighten the hose clamp over it to hold it in place.
