Low Pass Filter, Paradynamics, PDC 1089, Advice?

#22015

Post by SmallTruckBigRadio »

I am wondering if a low pass filter will help with my amp TX interfering with my truck CPU, Alarm system, and Radar Detector?

I can get one of these for about $25.

I'm not familiar with that specific model, but my guess would be as long is there is plenty of wattage capability (i.e. if you are running 1kw it's rated for 2kw) you'd be fine...especially if you ground it. And I would think it should help. However, will it solve the problem? Hard to say. If the RFI/harmonics are feeding into the CPU from someplace else (which is possible) then it likely won't help. However, the next step might be to shield the CPU with a simple metal box, either fabricate (or whatever) that you can ground.

I haven't seen too many applications where a low pass didn't at least help though.

;)

Thanks JC, I have a noise problem when I use the power inverter. A LOT of noise. There are seperate wires to the battery but all wires lead to the battery.

this mfj line isolator goes in-line with your cb coax.
it has 30 ferrite cores inside pvc pipe
with connectors on each end. i use one here. before i bled on everything
no i don't bother anything. probably not what your looking for though.

OK thanks guys,

I kinda figured the Paradynamics was low quality, but the low price had me hooked like a bologna sandwich near a drug dog.

Is that MJF 915 coax isolator supposed to be used in conjunction with a lowpass filter, or will it do a good job on its own.

Cool! I think I'll get one! Although I haven't really gotten any complaints about TVI from my base setup, my wife did say that she can hear me really good on the regular telephone (not cordless). Think the filter will help with that? Thanks.

it hooks in line it has coax connectors
just screw your coax to it that's it.you use a small jumper
from the radio screw it into the filter them screw your ant. coax
to the other end .that's all. very simple to use.

I got one of the MJF-915's ordered JCollins! Thanks for the link! I feel better already knowing that if I am putting out any TVI etc. on my neighbors, it should be less if not eliminated once I hook it up. Thanks again.

So am I. At least one area that I KNOW I'm getting interference is on the land line telephone. If I'm on the radio, my wife and the person she's talking to can both hear me. That needs to stop! I just wonder if the neighbors can hear me on their phones. It doesn't affect the cordless phones.

RFI/TVI update...

Well, I've had the MJF-915 line isolator installed for about a week now. I am still coming through on the regular land line telephone. I am still coming through on a television on our house. Only one though. None of the other televisions. Weird.... My wife says that it isn't as loud now though.

Would some better coax help out? What if I add a low pass filter? I need to clear this up.
