Hi Rabbit,

I used to have a Pro-433 and when I took it on the road I just used it's built-in telescoping antenna....it worked great for me. But that's probably not going to work for you if you are mounting it, huh? The other thing I had was a mag mount antenna that was about a foot high that was made for the ham bands....like 200 to 400 mhz or something....that worked with my BCT-15 scanner.....they're cheap, too if I remember correctly.....in fact, one of the sponsors here (Radioactive Radios) has a link to one...a triband mag mount....28 bucks....go to the bottom of the their main page and look for police scanners down on the left at the very bottom....

I honestly don't know of an antenna that will do the whole frequency range of a scanner well. Antennas can be 'optimized' for certain frequency ranges, that's mainly through antenna lengths. If it's 'optimized' for one particular range, then it's not going to work quite as well in other ranges. It can still receive those other ranges, but not as well as antennas 'optimized' for those ranges. So, if there are particular frequencies that you really want to hear, I think I'd find an antenna optimized for that range. After that, it's more of less whatever works. Receivers, or scanners, are not as 'picky' as transmitters are, so, if an antenna is 'close', it ought'a work. Good luck.
