my dx handle is "5 0 9 Southeast Tennessee we tryin'"

the numbers usually signify something close and personal to most DXers. mine is my birth month and year. May 9th hence the 509.

Yeah it can happen. I also use my birthday. It helps to combine a handle with a number that reduces the mathematical possibility of duplicates.

Should never switch your dx numbers arent enough combos to go around without eventaually hearin a duplicate. Is that person gonna change em cause he heard you usin the same numbers? I think probably not--use your originals and deal with there being 2 of you out there lol

There are plenty of copy-cat numbers out there, don't worry about "getting somebody's number"... If you're worried about being confused with somebody else, use BOTH your radio handle AND your DX number. Like, I always use "WildRoot 313"... The main thing is, use some kind of identification that YOU will recognize when the other guy repeats it back to you. That's how you know you're making the trip.

You can also use catchy phrases like "Callin' on the Hillbilly Hotline" when you're calling DX. I used that a few nights ago when I was hollerin' at Arkansas, and about a dozen people came back, all yelling "Hillbilly Hotline!" Think up something original, and you'll be surprised how many people are actually hearing you.

HAHA like I said name and number.

However, Wildroot makes a good point. For example there are about three guys in the nation going by Coolbreeze. Just be the most original loudest and most entertaining guy out there and even if the other guy had it first, nobody will remember him LOL.
