Midland 79-290
Midland 79-290
Ok, my friend has this Midland 79-290 (you know, the detachable face, digital readout, good stuff like that) and he refuses to upgrade or part with this radio. I have told him that the cb shops around northern IL and the such are not worth a crap. I have finally convinced him not to go to a local shop.
My question is, is there anyone on this forum that could tune his radio really well (and I don't mean like a cb shop or anything). We all know what a cb shop can (or cannot) do. He wants a "REAL" tech to work on his radio. I know Radioactive won't do it because it is not a "big" radio like a Connex or Galaxy (although, it has just as many features...if not more...it's just not an export). So, where can I advise him to get it done? He said if I can find a good person, he will stay away from all the shops.

Please let me know what they say. I just picked up a brand new 79-290 (new in the box that is) and need to have the same things done. I have all the schematic and mods but want to have someone with knowledge actually "tune" this up for me. I can do the simple stuff but I want to have more.
Again, Please post what they come back with.
Thanks.

CB City said that they can do the tune for about $25.00 to $30.00. I have advised my friend and I amk waiting for him to make a decision on it. Tabasco, I would say to contact them (if you want them to do it) and ask them about how to send your radio in and stuff. They should help you out right away. They contacted me about a day or so later with my request.Tabasco wrote:Snowman -
