Inherited equipment...what is it?

#222445

Post by topgun64 »

I have very limited knowledge of the older equipment, was a kid in the 70's, had a JC Penney mobile unit as my base, Dak power mic...talked to all my friends but no "real" knowledge of the equipment. Got older...lost interest, everybody moved on.....fast forward 30 years.

I Inherited 2 lage boxes of equipment from a deceased uncle, no one can answer any questions other than he was talking on it when he got sick. No cousins...just old aunts. Take this stuff, nobody else wants it type deal.

In the box are a few Regency CR-142 (2 of these) , a Palomar-with another black box..I'm assuming a linear(never had one..but remember hearing about them) and a 2 piece Browning Golden Eagle...no other markings like mark 2, 3 ..just Golden Eagle(gold colored in fact), and 4 D104 mics....I do remember the D104's....could never afford one, or a Turner Super Sidekick(asked for one for Christmas, got the Dak) and a bunch of other meters and such.

Can someone tell me what to look for, I take pics and e-mail...tell me what I have.
Thanks Brian

I think the 'biggies' are the Golden Eagle and the D104's, just depending on what you want to do with them (sell?). What are they worth? No idea.

The Browning Eagle...if functional is probably worth $300 give or take $50. It depends
on how well it works and how clean it is. The D104's are worth anywhere from $40 to
well over $100 if any of them are gold plated...that is a Golden Eagle and is worth
whatever the market will bear.

Nice stuff.

I can help a little.

First pic...starting from the top:
Avanti Low Pass Filter
PDC 600 SWR/Power/Modulation meter
Coax Switch
2x Regency Radios
To the left is a Astatic D104 sitting on top of some sort of Browning Eagle
To the right is a a coax switch, 2 Astatic D104 mic's, and the boxes below the mics are CDE Rotator boxes to control rotors.

Second pic...same thing.

Third pic...from the left side:
2x Astatic D104's.
The meter up top on that side is a generic meter. Probably SWR and Power.
The blue and white box is a Palomar. Looks like a 300a more than likely.
The radio at the bottom is one of the best CB radios EVER made. The Browning Golden Eagle.

The D104's are probably worth $50-100 each.
The Regency radios aren't worth much.
The PDC 600 meter is probably worth $50-75
The CDE Rotor boxes are worth probably $50 without the rotors that went with them.
The Palomar 300a is a GREAT base amp. Worth probably $200-250 in my neck of the woods.

The holy grail is the Browning Golden Eagle. That thing looks freakin sweet in condition. I'd be willing to bet on eBay with the right wording it would bring close to $500...if not more. They sell all the time for $200-300, but not in that pristine condition. That's one sweet rig...I'd like to have it, but I'm all stocked up on rigs.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum!

Hi topgun64,

Provide some photos. I have to agree with Doc the Browning Mark (whatever the number is) is the most desirable radio. Even if it does not work, as long as it is in good shape someone will provide a good home for it. I have a picture of one on my Website.

Does it look anything like the one you have?
Respectfully as always,

Rick
