base station antenna only

So if a person was to set up a new base station out in the middle of no where what kind of base station only antenna would you buy using a palomar 300 skipper.I have no problem with bleeding over into anybody else the nearest neighbor is 2 miles away.

The easiest to install and tune would be your Antron 99. And then a Maco would be my next choice.

You got it made. If i were in your situation, i would get the biggest beam i could afford and put it on a tower.

I forgot to say I am running a cobra 139xlr base.Is this a good radio got a really good buy on it from a pawn shop about 10 years ago for 50.00.

Cheap and easy, I would get a vertical. Maybe a Imax 2000?

If you have money to burn, get a beam. But remember, you will have to have coax, rotor, tower, etc to run a big beam. Some big beams even use multiple runs of coax. Check out the entire Maco line up. You have the Shooting Star and Laser 400 to mention a couple of awesome antennas. Also be aware these antennas are cumbersome and difficult to install without experience or a friend with a bucket truck.

First question would be, what would you like to be able to do with it? Anything in particular?
Second question would be, what are your limits, room for stuff, live in a deep valley, hill top?
Third question would be, what can you spend, "significant other's" opinions, how close to an airport?

Mix the answers to the above in a mason jar, cap tightly, let ferment for some period of time. If that jar doesn't explode, and if it doesn't take your head off after a sip, you will probably either have found a really nice solution, or will have forgotten about the whole thing. Do NOT open jar around open flames! (Or that "significant other"!)

I have ample room I am 30 miles from nowhere so space isn't a problem.I am pretty much in the open and there are no real hills to worrie about for the most part.I will be talking local and skip i don't want to spend a lot of money but i also don't want to skimp to much.I would like to stay as close to the ground as possible but I aslo have access to a 40 foot boom truck but I also fly and land at this location so I don't want to get to high.Also does anybody make an antenna I could install on my plane it is of the super cub type.

Is there an antenna you could install on a plane? Sure. All things considered, the only 'hard' part would be finding/making a mounting bracket and attaching it to the frame of the 'Cub. Or if you really wanna get 'fancy', how about an 8 - 9 foot wire from the tail to the front' seat's 'over head'? And then again, how about a mag-mount on a metal plate on the cabin roof? All kinds of possibilities! Of course, unless you have a friendly 'A&E', you might wanna remove it for the next annual inspection.

Monoband HF antenna on a tower. If I could, I would, but for now, my stealth wire antennas will get me around the world as long as the trees don't catch on fire.

Feds don't have anything to say about it it an experimental and it is the 4 th one I have built so i do my own annuals and I know where I can mount it.I have a couple of thousand hours in it so I sort of know the aircraft.I was just wondering if if I could put a roof mount on it under the wing upside down on a bracket, or do they make an antenna especially for aircraft?

A CB antenna designed for aircraft use? Not that I'm aware of. But, if you can adapt an antenna for mounting on an aircraft that doesn't interfere with it's ability to fly, and safety, why not? If it wasn't for plowing ruts in the field when you landed, I'd put it on the bottom of the fuselage.

Biggest aviation mistake I ever made was going to the "Big 'O'" in Wis.! Wandered around Rutan's stuff, drooling, till they ran me off. Tried to swap my 'Coupe for one of his creations, didn't work. Oh well... Still had so much fun it was probably illegal.

if your doing skip, a horizontal beam. if local, the antron 99. most guys have a 3 horizontal element beam. it can be mounted on normal tv rotor and mast. if you want to be more bad **Censored** than most guys, get a 5-6 element beam. the cost goes way up though, tower/rotor ect.. 209
