Hi

The guys ebay name is springhillauto

http://stores.ebay.com/Spring ... o-Electric

The thing is you would have to find a 220 amp rotor to go with the kit or the 105 amp rotor will burn up if you put a heavy load on it im looking for a 220 amp rotor for mine.

my truck is a 97 gmc with a 4.3L in it.

10-4. I know my momma always told me if it sounds to good to be true than it is too good to be true. The same thing applies to everyone and everything. I would have to see it to believe it anyway and lets just say this I aint got the time to waste right now when I know.

Check with Mechman, he is a sponsor here, he gave me a great price on a 320amp, I was expecting to hear $500, NOT.
I'm sure it varries on type and model, but you might be surprized as well.

He also informed me my EOM alt was 120amp by model number, which I decided would be enough for my 4pill.
So he saved me from spending money i didnt need to. Thats a real guy right tehre, he didnt have to take the time and look up my OEM and inform me
Or he could have even lied and made a sale, Instead he was honest. So he gets all my buisness and referals.
When i step up to a bigger mobil amp or spring for the warn winch i've been eyeing, i'll be calling Mechman for a 320amp.

4.3's are easy to add an extra alternator on also. You can always do what i did. Go find a load early 90's taurus alternator, 145 amps, maybe 45 bucks at the junkyard. Easy to make a bracket for. They are externally regualated but easy to hook up to a voltage regulator, Didnt have to worry about being stranded if i burnt up the alternator. I ran mine at 18 volts on a straight 4 pill and a 2 pill on 12 volts hitting it back then.

220 amps out of a CS130 will BURN UP in no time flat, I don't care what kind of rotor you put in it. Putting a higher amp (higher field current draw) will only increase the heat problem.

Bottom line, a CS130 does not have enough diode capacity, rectifier surface area, or fan cooling to support 220 amps for more than a few minutes. Whats more, in order to get an honest 220 amps out of a CS 130, the stator would have to be so radical ,you would have almost NO output at idle.

been there, done that. There is a reason why we go through so much trouble to adapt in large case housings- We don't like units coming back for warranty repair every week, and we don't want our customers to have LESS output at idle than they did with their stock CS130.

Just FYI, 1st generation Taurus used a large case 3G ford unit, 130 amps. (not 145) and they are not externally regulated, they are internally regulated. You can easily adapt one as a seccond alternator if you want.
