At home there are power lines across the highway that create a lot of noise on my radio in the semi. i want to setup a radio at home but don't know what to do about the noise. i was thinking (briefly, i swear) of putting an antenna on a pole about 15 ft in air, wonder if it's worth the effort since semi is parked nearby and gets lotsa noise, killing my range of recieving
Any suggestions ?

Re: power line static
The base antenna will likely be even more noisy as the antenna will pick up more than the mobile antenna. Perhaps a directional antenna will be able to reduce the noise. Depends on how bad the noise is.
