Mobile base power question
If you pull your CB from your truck and put it in the house, you need a power unit. Any recommendations for an inexpensive one that does the job for say a Midland 1001z?
Re: Mobile base power question
For that little radio, something like a little 5 amp astron would do the trick. There's also tripplite and pyramid, although I'm avoiding pyramid b/c the last one I had caught fire...almost scorched my hardwood floor, lol.

"linx" gave you the answer, this is just one of those "things" about power supplies.
There are two kinds of ratings for power supplies, ICS and CCS. That first letter, "I" means intermittent, "C" means continuous. ICS means that the thing will supply whatever amount of 'juice' for a very short time. CCS means that the thing will supply whatever amount of 'juice' continuously. That ICS is always larger than CCS. Using one rating instead of the other one is a marketing thing. So what's the difference between ICS and CCS? Something between 10 and 25%, there's no standard for that. (There's a fair sized 'fudge factor' in that 'guessimate', take it for what it's worth.)

You are lucky you didn't have carpet! Might have caught fire and burned the place down God forbid. Must have been quite a power unit. Probably a lot bigger than this little cheap Pyramidy thing here [Please login or register to view this link]
