What is my best choice for a Super Wack Packed Super Receive base radio? What antenna would you recommend? I have a 40' telescoping fiberglass pole to mount the antenna to, or would metal pipe be better.

i would get me a imax 2k or a a99 and a general lee and you will have a nice base setup for sure. or get you a nice cobra 2000. and then if you want a amp i would go for a davemade. i am sure you will get a lot of post on this but its only up to you as to what you want. you don't have to satisfy us just your self

Hey big guns I have a 2547 SWP on the way , I will let you know how it does ......but like they say everyone has a different opinion........If I had my choice I would have had a Galaxy 2517 SWP on the way instead of the 2547

If your looking for the best antenna get a Jay in the Mohave 10K.
Unfortunately, I don't believe your 40ft. pole would be enough to support it.

RCI makes excellent base radios too.
When BobOstro gets his RCI 2995DX you can ask him how he likes it.

I bought a Galaxy DX 95T from RadioActive that I am using as a base right now. He set it up beautifully for me. It has a built in amp, SSB, six digit frequency counter, echo (not adjustable unless you void Mike's warranty), roger beep, 8 bands, and more. Makes a great base radio. Just a suggestion.

Saturn Turbo. 10 swinging 150 with a TUP-9 and the right antenna will wreck everything in it's path.

My friend just got his excalibur. After seeing how it is built. I ordered one yesterday from radioactive. expensive but worth it. The performance is awesome.

I was looking at the saturn and saturn trubo when I was looking for my base and was confused. If you go to Galaxy's web site, they dont sell the planitary radios ( Saturn, Pluto, Maco, Jupiter, etc. ) nor do they service them. I was unable to find a lot of info on them. It looks like that was a seperate company in the past even though some of the parts are the same. I finaly gave up on those and went for what was currant ( DX2517 ) which doesent have an amp. I will just have to add an amp myself.
